Burn Season

This is the time for fires. In a good way.

Early November conditions: soggy ground, no wind - perfect.

Fires are comforting at this time of year. And productive. They feel good, they are warm and comforting. They give a measure of safety. And a clean-up tool.

If power goes out we can still cook and heat our places. That alone gives me a lot of comfort. It’s so easy to rely on power once it’s there. It’s easy, it’s out of mind until it goes out and we realize how much we rely on it and take it for granted.

Too windy outside for a promised marshmallow roasting, so indoors it was.

Small clean-up piles.
